Coincidences & Dreams of the Dead

Whoa, I just found out something really overly coincidental from my aunt. Remember that dream I wrote about earlier today, wherein my deceased grandparents made an appearance, and I sort of met my grandmother, who I never met in person? Well, it turns out that THIS THURSDAY is the anniversary of her death. That’s some crazy ass shit.

UPDATE!

I also mentioned to my aunt Susan, that in my dream, my grandmother reminded me very much of another of my aunts, Anne. Like, in terms of how she looked and her personality and sense of humor. She had this to say in reply:

And you really must have been with my mother in that dream because she is a lot like Auntie Anne, looks and personality more than any of us. As a matter of fact when your Dad was here on his birthday in Worcester we had dinner with Auntie Anne and he was taken aback for a minute and thought of my Mom when he hugged anne goodbye. He said he had to think for a minute that she wasn’t my mother.

Of course, like I said, I knew this without having to ask my aunt. Also, I found out that my grandparents’ anniversary was February 20th (1943), and today is also numbered 20, although it’s a different month.

I’m reading an article called “Dreaming with the Departed,” which has the following passage in it, which relates directly to how I saw my grandparents in this dream, as though they were young and it was their wedding day:

The departed may appear as the dreamer remembers them from their last days of physical life, especially in the first dream encounters. But over time, it is quite common for the departed to alter their appearance, to shrug off signs of age and bodily ailments, and to present themselves as healthy and attractive. People who died in later years frequently reappear looking around 30 years old.

UPDATE!

Another, astrological set of coincidences here, if you’re interested. Cancer is my rising sign. We’re currently in Cancer right now. It ends Thursday. Thursday is the 29th anniversary of my grandmother’s death. The next day we start Leo. Leo is my moon sign, which is the 3rd most important sign, after your sun sign, and your rising sign. Also, supposedly, your moon sign relates to your mother, and these grandparents are on her side. Also, my aunt tells me that a man’s grandmother is referred to in the first house. Which would make that Cancer yet again. Anyway, that just adds a nice extra layer of complexity to the whole thing.
