How people describe me

In my daily ritual of going through referral logs, to see how people are finding my site, I came across a site I’d like to come back and explore more deeply: The Revealer, a daily review of religion and the press. It’s apparently published at the Department of Journalism and the Center for Religion and Media at New York University.

Anyway, it seems they linked to me sometime in November of last year, in a sort of a round-up of websites about paganism and alternative religion and stuff. Mine is mentioned waaaaaaaay at the bottom under “Personal Paganism.” I don’t really consider myself a pagan, but other people seem to think so, so I’ll let them think that for now, I guess. In any event, they have a neat description of my website. Probably one of the better ones that I’ve ever heard:

Tim Boucher, Real-Life Occult Investigator, explains why the supernatural is really cool.

Yeah, it IS cool, and not just cool, but REALLY cool. I’m glad they used this to describe me, cause I think that’s sort of a major thrust of what I’m doing, is running around looking for stuff that I think is really “cool”.

Actually, also, that Bonassus dude left another comment on my site which I thought contained some really fun descriptive language about my writing:

I guess that’s what I wondered. It’s obvious from a few minutes at your site that you’ve taken a lot of time and done a lot of reading; on the other hand, you r tone, which combines wide-eyedness, lots of cursing, and thoughtful analysis, makes it sound as if you’re somehow joking, or maybe not joking but being ironic. I somehow came across your site and spent a while trying to figure out if it was written as some kind of art project or hoax, or whether it was sincere. Now I know. Good luck!

I especially like the part where he says my stuff “combines wide-eyedness, lots of cursing, and thoughtful analysis.” I think all of those are important. Especially the cursing. For fuck’s sake! Hehe.

Also, here’s another blog linking to me lately that I came across, which has some wording about me that I like:

Tim Boucher: Occult Investigator - I love finding unique blogs like this. The author links to and comments on articles related to the supernatural, paranormal, myths, magic etc. with a few personal notes thrown in. Very interesting. I like that the author is neither a nut nor oozing with skepticism and ridicule. He just reports.

That’s great that I don’t come off as a nut. Sometimes I wonder, myself, you know, whether I seem nutty to people… And as far as skepticism goes, I find it much more interesting to believe things that contradict themselves or each other than to run around trying to debunk cool mysteries. Thanks for the note Lynn!
