Three old women by the river

Last night, before falling asleep, I had two hypnagogic visions which I wrote down.

The first one was more just a series of words, a name actually. It was either “Thaddeus Thompson” or possibly “Thaddeus Thomas.” Along with that also came the word “rivals”. I couldn’t find anything that seemed important by looking for the first one. Looked up the name Thaddeus though, and it apparently meant “heart” in Aramaic. “Thomas” meant twin. I found out that Thaddeus was also the name of one of the 12 Apostles, though he’s more commonly referred to as Saint Jude, or Jude Thaddeus (Not to be confused with Judas Iscariot).

St. Jude is supposed to be the saint you pray to for “impossible things.” Says he’s usually shown holding: an oar, a boat, a boat hook, a club, an axe, a pen or a book, or some combination of those. And he’s normally depicted with a small flame above his head. This other site says that he only speaks once in the Gospels:

At the Last Supper he asked Jesus, ” Lord, how is it that you will show yourself only to those that love you? Why not the whole world?”(John 14:22-23)

Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me he will keep my word and my father will love him and we will come to him.”

Another interesting footnote to all of this, is that according to some accounts, St. Jude also looked a lot like Jesus. Which is also something that’s attributed to Thomas. In fact, some people have suggested that the “twin” referred to in Thomas’ name was actually Jesus. I mention this specifically in relation to the fact that I saw the word “Rivals” juxtaposed with the names “Thaddeus, Thomas.”

The next one I had was of these three old woman who all looked alike, and were embracing and kissing each other goodbye. I mean, they were old, but they weren’t like very aged looking. You could see the ancientness in their faces though. They were all very beautiful, and all looked like one another. Like they could have been sisters or perhaps triplets. They had super long gray flowing hair, with many different shades in it. Their hair streamed down around them, they may have not been wearing any clothes. Somehow, in between all of them, there was a river that flowed. Almost like it was flowing out of or through them, and was somehow related to their long flowing hair as well. They were kissing each other on the cheeks and mouth, and were both happy and crying, and were preparing to depart from one another.

Looking back, they kind of remind me of the Three Fates, or of some other Triple Goddess type of figure. The Fates seem to be typically portrayed as the same age, all looking like one another. Usually, other Triple Goddesses take the maid-mother-crone depictions. Here’s a page which consists of different peoples’ dreams about triple female figures, and associated notes & interpretations. Also, a page about the triple goddess in Celtic traditions.

One final semi-outlandish connection between the two visions: this whole notion that both Apostles, Jude Thaddeus and Thomas were “mistaken” for twins of Jesus, could indicate some kind of triadic relationship. Like, perhaps this triad is the male counterpart to the three females at the river in the second vision.
