Origin of “Mrs.”
Well, I’ll be a son of a bitch. I just found out that the origin of “Mrs.”, “Miss” and “Ms.” is from the word “Mistress” - deriving from “mistress” being an old-fashioned form of address for a woman. Like the “headmistress” at a school. And mistress is the feminine form of the word “master”. I mean, I guess I knew that, but I never really made that connection.
