Anti-Pat Robertson
- “There is no such thing as separation of church and state in the Constitution. It is a lie of the Left and we are not going to take it anymore.” –Pat Robertson
Using Google’s handy keyword sandbox, I discovered that the second-most requested search term related to “Pat Robertson” is actually “Anti Pat Robertson.” So, that’s cool. Following that chain brought me to a site calling itself “The Anti-Pat Robertson/Christian Coalition Site“. (PS. I like how Pat Robertson is always making that “Drop a Log for the Lord” Face. You’d think after all these years, he’d have finally managed to squeeze one out.)
Probably the best place to dive right into the fray is with some quotes from the man himself. They are pretty wild, I must say. Here’s another site with a couple more quotes from him.
Wikipedia also had a couple interesting things about him. Apparently Robertson was involved in a libel lawsuit at some point:
- McCloskey and other veterans had accused Robertson of having had his father pull strings to keep him from the front lines, as well as carousing with prostitutes and hassling Korean women.
Hassling women? Why, that doesn’t sound like the Pat Robertson I know and love.
- “The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians.”
“The wife actually makes the husband the head of the household and she looks to him and she says ‘now you pray, and I’m going to pray for you that the Lord will speak to you.”
Shit, I could really go on and on with all these quotes.
- Apparently, he also suggested during several televised prayer sessions that the US State Department should be nuked.
- Plus he ran for president in 1988, which I never knew. He made a bunch of statements about how he would only bring Christians and Jews into his administrative positions if elected, because people from other religions & ideologies are not fit to lead or make decisions.
- Plus there was that whole thing about how him and Jerry Falwell announced that September 11 happened because God was punishing America for paganism, homosexuality and much much more - basically saying that terrorists are doing God’s work.
- He also publicly supports a bunch of weirdo dictators in Africa. It’s also said that he had gold and diamond mining operations there, and that most of the money which he says is going towards Christianizing Africa goes instead to developing his business operations there.
- He’s called Hinduism demonic
- I’ve also heard (and this is much more tenuous) that his organization is loosely connected to a separatist terrorist group in India whose goal is a Christian Fundamentalist Taliban-style country.
Before I go, here’s a quote I found from Bush, Sr. which was included on a couple of these sites:
- “I don’t know that atheists should be considered citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.” - George H. W. Bush
Ah, good old America.
PS. Here’s another great site that is anti-Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and Religious Right.
