The short answer: Yes.

The long answer: Yes.

Despite what people like Pat Robertson say on the subject:

Under no circumstances is Jehovah, the God of the Bible, and Allah, of the Koran, the same. First of all, the God of the Bible is a God of love and redemption, who sent His Son into the world to die for our sins. Allah tells people to die for him in order to get salvation, but there is no understanding of salvation. Allah was the moon god from Mecca. That is why Islam has the crescent moon. The flag of Turkey has a crescent moon with a star in it. Well, the crescent moon is because Allah was the moon god, and that is the deal. But we don’t serve a moon god. We serve the God of creation, the Creator of everything.

This whole thing that Christian fundamentalists do where they try to denigrate Islam by saying that Allah is “nothing but a moon god” really drives me wild, from the standpoint of a religious researcher (not to mention as a fan of not being a complete and total ignorant piece of shit). Mainly because, so what if Allah derives from a pagan moon god? Cause the Christian concept of god derives quite plainly from a conglomerate heathen sun god. And no one seems to pay that any mind. Hell, I’ve never even once heard them bring that up in their arguments.

But then, why would then? My favorite thing about hardline Christianity is its inflexibility and its near invulnerability to attack. Any time you question anything, you immediately play into their hands and acquire some kind of magical label like “misguided” or “ignorant of God’s word” or else just flat out evil. It’s great fun.

In fact, a delightful little article entitled “Scientific Errors in the Qu’ran” levels exactly the observation I just made, but of course against Muslims:

Many Muslims believe in the Qur’an as a blind leap of faith. They really do not care if it is filled with mistakes and contradictions. As far as they are concerned, they were born Muslim and they will die Muslim. The more closed minded they are, the more fanatical they become in their religion. When ignorance unites with arrogance, fanaticism is born.

We pity those whose religion is only the product of an accident of birth and culture. They blindly follow whatever religion they were born into. How sad it is to have an unexamined faith; a faith that cannot stand up to reason and science; a faith that merely shouts slogans, stamps its feet and beats its breast in a mindless mob. They do not believe in Islam because it is true. To them Islam is true because they believe it.

Exactly. Except this is true of people thoroughly entrenched inside ANY & ALL religious/ideological systems. This article, of course, makes no claims at all regarding the scientific factuality of the Bible.

He says in one panel “You people should FEAR US!” Of course, by the end he is instead cowering before the might of the faceless Christian god.
2. A book called Islamic Invasion by Robert Morey, which delivers more “facts” about how Islam is taking over and how we should fear those hooded bastards.
3. Another item which tries to rip apart Islam for its pagan roots, without ever once mentioning that Christianity has more or less identical intertwining ones.
