History: Fiction or Science?

While I was researching the post below, I came across mention of a book that sounds really weird, paranoid & conspiratorial, and consequently super fun. It’s called History: Fiction or Science? and it’s by a Russian mathematician (?) named Anatoly T. Fomenko. This is the original ad for it which I read, which intrigued me enough to check it out on Amazon:

What if Ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt were invented during Renaissance? Did Crusaders really wait over 1000 years to punish the tormentors of Jesus Christ? What if Jesus Christ was born in 1053 and crucified in 1086 AD?.. Sounds unbelievable? Not after you’ve read “History: Fiction or Science?”. The history of the humankind proves to be dramatically different and drastically shorter than generally presumed!

I love books and theories that are just totally and completely and utterly off the wall. Even better, I love reviews of them on Amazon which go to great lengths to defend them. I really want to take a look at this book. I don’t know that I necessarily want to buy it, but who knows. I’m a wild man.

Here is the official website of the book. Oh, score! They have an excerpt from the book. I love this sort of shit. I’m not the slightest bit concerned with whether or not things like this are true. The mere mention of it, the slightest possibility is good enough for me. Whatever it takes to set my brain all spinning off in some weird new direction.
