North Korea’s (Non) Nuclear Blast

Supposedly there was an enormous explosion in the northern part of North Korea a couple days ago. It apparently sent a plume of smoke into the air which was two miles wide. It occurred on the anniversary of the country’s founding, which people have speculated might be a day used for nuclear testing. Colin Powell, however, has stated that there is no evidence to indicate that the blast was nuclear in origin. One of the best arguments against it being nuclear is that since the country is so small, an above-ground nuclear test would significantly harm the country and its inhabitants.
