Somebody emailed me the other day asking if I knew of any resources which would connect them with somebody who could perform a sort of specialized ritual religious tattooing for them. I wish I did, because I think this is a very interesting area. But I’ve unfortunately not heard too much about modern practioners of this sort of thing. Here’s one link. I have however, heard of this sort of thing a bit more commonly in extreme body-modification & self-mutilation ceremonies. So maybe that would be the place to look.
In any event, I’d love to put together a list of artists and studios who might have a specialty in doing private ceremonial tattooing rituals. If anybody knows one or is one, please drop me a line, and I’ll add it to the tattooing section of my site.
