Iran Ignores Kerry, Bloggers Miss Point

Over the past few hours, I’ve seen maybe 4 or 5 different bloggers post about this news item that just came up about how Iran has declined the nuclear proposals Kerry outlined in the debates.

And everyone seems to be missing the point of this. People are reacting about it as though it means that Iran is “tougher” than Kerry could deal with, or that Kerry’s ideas about peaceful solutions make no sense. That’s basically the implications of how people are looking at this news item.

But not a single person has addressed the fact that Kerry is NOT president. As a mere candidate for President, a foreign nation has no obligation to take anything he says seriously, since he wields no power. In fact, it would be politically detrimental for them to even suggest dealing with Kerry while Bush is still in office.

It’s just a matter of formality, and has nothing to do with who would make a better president. Personally, I think they both are going to make shit-ass presidents, and if you vote for either one, you’re just accepting servitude to a duplicitous system which was not and is not set up to meet your needs or to remotely look out for you.
