This introduction to an article over at Mike Ruppert’s From the Wilderness site is great. Actually, it’s better than the article itself:
- If the “war on terror” were real, it would involve the cessation of American terrorism against everybody else. It would also require a serious examination of anti-American motives, since nobody on Planet Grownup can possibly imagine young people blowing themselves up for some abstract hatred of American “freedom.” The Israel-Palestine war-of-attrition would have to be examined (preferably while We the People are wearing our thinking caps, having taken off those super-cool hats that hold two beer cans each). Only a carefully historical reappraisal of thwarted Arab nationalism can return “our enemies” to the one interpretive category in which they can possibly be disarmed: human beings with grievances.
Especially that thing at the end there. That using words like “terrorist” and “enemy” helps to break down the humanity of the people who we are targeting. You’re automatically forced out of thinking that there is anything which they are doing which is appropriate or even rational. They just become painted as religious nuts hiding in caves, and nothing they do could possibly ever make any sense to us, and the only possible real reaction we can or should ever have with them is bombing them into submission.
Anyway, there’s a lot of good articles at that site, so many that it’s a bit overwhelming. If nothing else, their links page has tons of interesting sites and resources on it. If you’re looking for a good place to start with all this madness, check out Mike Ruppert’s video lecture, “Truth & Lies of 9/11″. You can probably download a copy off KaZaa, or you can buy one on DVD. Or you can contact me with your address and I’ll send you a burned cd of it for free, because I’m happy to help.
