You want some wood?

In case you haven’t seen/heard this already, here’s a link to that factcheck.org site, the article talking about how Bush DOES in fact own a timber company, but “forgot” about it during the debate.

In fact, according to his 2003 financial disclosure form, Bush does own part interest in “LSTF, LLC”, a limited-liability company organized “for the purpose of the production of trees for commercial sales.”

Actually, there’s a bunch of other factual distortions from both sides listed there too. But that’s one of my favorites.

Oh, that, and Bush’s whole speech about how we have to burn down forests before forests burn down us. Those fucking terrorist forests.

We proposed and passed a healthy forest bill which was essential to working with — particularly in Western states — to make sure that our forests were protected. What happens in those forests, because of lousy federal policy, is they grow to be — they are not — they’re not harvested. They’re not taken care of. And as a result, they’re like tinderboxes.

And over the last summers I’ve flown over there. And so, this is a reasonable policy to protect old stands of trees and at the same time make sure our forests aren’t vulnerable to the forest fires that have destroyed acres after acres in the West.
