Iraqis don’t want us there

Here is an excellent article from the Long Island Press which injects some much needed truth about how very unpopular the occupation is among average Iraqi citizens.

    But on the streets, the calls from clerics for jihad are rising and spreading into the mainstream, seeping into a popular culture ironically liberated by the same occupation they’re opposing. Unencumbered by former president Saddam Hussein’s strict censorship laws, videos of armed mujahedeen, or holy warriors, battling Americans—often set to religious rhythmic music—sell briskly at CD shops and in bazaars.

    At Internet cafés, young people scan jihadi websites for news. Even among ordinary people, it has become more tolerable to call for violence against Americans and their Iraqi supporters.
