I couldn’t find this info anywhere on the blogexplosion site, so I wrote to them asking, and they were very speedy in their reply. Basically, I noticed that up until yesterday, there was a rate of 1 credit = 50 banner impressions. Then, that rate dropped to 45, and then today down to 35. And now it’s back up at 40. I thought maybe this was linked into something that I was doing myself that I wasn’t aware of. One of their staff members wrote back:
- The banner exchange rate will fluctuate based on how many banners are rotated and how many impressions we have left to deliver.
The rate will go up when inventory is low and down when it’s high.
So, I’m taking that to mean that the exchange rate reflects the overall usage of the banner program, rather than my individual use of it. I guess that settles that. They ought to have that info linked right on the banner section of their site though. Otherwise though, I’m reasonably pleased with the service. It’s free and it does increase your traffic a significant and tangible amount. Which is pretty alright.
