It took me a while to finally switch over, but I can comfortably say that I’ve finally put Internet Explorer behind me forever. Firefox is just so much more versatile. It’s great. There are three things about it that I really love:
1. Tabs - I’m one of those assholes who always has like 10 different windows open while I’m searching for something online. Having tabbed browsing makes it much easier to manage all these, since they don’t take up space in my program bar anymore. I love it.
2. Text Sizing - By pressing CTRL and + you can instantly increase the size of text on a site. This is awesome because it puts final control in the hands of the site visitor, rather than designer. Plus, I use the computer so much that I’m trying to save my eyes a little by making text bigger whenever I can.
3. Search Plug-ins - There’s a bunch of different search engines built right into the browser. And you can add more whenever you want. It lets me search Wikipedia right from my browser. I also now can search Pantheon.org’s myth database, as well as the IMDB, versions of the Bible, and a whole slew of other stuff. It’s so handy, I love it. Pretty much any kind of content or site that you regularly use for information, there’s a plugin to search directly from your browser, without having to go to that site beforehand.
