CSS Float Tutorial
Aha! I’ve been struggling to understand why all the pre-built templates which Blogger uses are structured the way they are. I’ve been doing HTML/CSS programming for years, and even taught it professionally for a while. But I never really grasped why their way was simpler than just using tables to structure your pages. Now I get it though. It all rests on a super-simple CSS item, called “float” which I had never really taken any notice of before this. Using that with a combination of some other CSS stuff, you can set up a three column page layout really simply without resorting to tables at all. Here’s a decent tutorial I found about it. They also have a good one about using “float” to set up a thumbnail gallery with no tables at all - which is kinda cool. Kinda makes me want to rebuild my site.
