My Secret Garden

I just came across a blog called The Secret Garden which had a little piece on it complaining about my site as being “misleading” based on my title vs. my content:

One would expect that to be about the paranormal. Even if it was just a spoof I would be happy. Noooo this is about politics. I have seen it a few times now and he has not written at all about anything unexplained with the exception of the lack of intelligence of some politicians. What’s up with that??

Thanks for your comments Robyn. However, I have indeed been writing about unexplained & paranormal things in addition to political content. More importantly though, my blog is about culture, and about the hidden sides of culture. Things outside of the mainstream, whether they be paranormal, mystical, theoretical, conspiratorial, anarchist or what-have-you. This happens to be an extremely politically charged time we’re in right now, in case you haven’t noticed. And I’ve felt compelled to provide content which counters mainstream views you hear parroted by the thousands every day.

I happen to be quite happy with it, although I too am growing tired of hearing about political stuff just constantly everywhere I go. But hey, that’s just the world we live in right now, unfortunately. I didn’t decide for the world to be like this, but I’m trying to carve out my own little plot of land to stand on. I recognize that’s not for everybody. I don’t feel like I have an obligation to please everyone, nor to live up to everyone’s expectations about what I am, and what I should be writing about.

Further, a title is not equal to a promise or to an advertisement of contents. A title provides a conceptual trigger, eliciting a possible contextual framework from which to view the contents in. You’re certainly free to not like it or to not like my content. I’m not arguing that. I’m just trying to point out that by your logic, I could make the argument that your blog, “The Secret Garden” ought to be criticized since it is not literally about “real gardens of plants which are hidden from public view”. In that sense, perhaps your blog title is even more misleading than my own, since I really do “investigate” things which are “occult” or hidden from view.

Here’s hoping though, that you’ll not write me off and perhaps dig a little deeper, and maybe check out my investigations section for some content which may be more focused around topics to your liking. Thanks again for your comments.
