Some religious links
Came across this site via Furl, which features a variety of religious links and resources. Some of the ones which catch my eye right off the bat:
- The BBC has a section of their site devoted to information on all the major world religions.
- Catholic Online has an extensive section of their site directed towards information on the Saints & Angels.
Also, the Revealer is a sort of blog/magazine site about contemporary religion which is published out of NYU, I believe. Associated with the same group of people who publish that is a site called Killing The Buddha, which features the following description:
- Killing the Buddha is a religion magazine for people made anxious by churches, people embarrassed to be caught in the “spirituality” section of a bookstore, people both hostile and drawn to talk of God. It is for people who somehow want to be religious, who want to know what it means to know the divine, but for good reasons are not and do not. If the religious have come to own religious discourse it is because they alone have had places where religious language could be spoken and understood. Now there is a forum for the supposedly non-religious to think and talk about what religion is, is not and might be.
While this is a great explanation of their goal, I’m mostly bored by the handful of articles which I read there. Also, it seems like their site exists basically to support a book which they put out of the same title. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’m just pointing it out. Actually, I think it’s a smart way to market their work.
