Just came across what has to be the funniest title of a kids book I’ve ever seen: The Day My Butt Went Psycho, and the sequel to that, Zombie Butts from Uranus, by Australian author Andy Griffiths. Since he’s Australian, the original titles of those books used the word “Bum” in place of “Butt”. I guess they are novels for the 9-12 year old market, which is definitely appropriate given the fact that they seem to be exclusively centered around wordplays about butts. The whole series began with a simple short story, which can be found here on the author’s site:
- I suppose I knew it was going to happen. Sooner or later. My bum had been restless all week, but I had managed to keep it under control with a combination of threats, promises and well-placed smacks. But when I woke up on Friday morning, it was perched on the window sill of my bedroom.
“Up, up and away!” it yelled and it jumped out the window.
“Damn,” I said. A feral bum is no laughing matter, and it was fully loaded. There was no telling what damage it might do…
Hilarious. I found this via iMike
