Anarchist Voters’ Guide

Ran Prieur has some excellent predictions about just what voting for Bush vs. voting for Kerry will most likely land us, in his Anarchist Voters’ Guide. Here’s a little taste of the kind of language he’s using:

George W. Bush has done more in four years to advance the Anarchist agenda than 200 years of presidents before him. By running up record deficits, bullying the rest of the world, and channeling nationalist fanaticism into two unwinnable wars, he has accelerated and assured the fall of the world’s most powerful and dangerous empire. In four short years America has gone from an undeservedly respected world-spanning colossus to a globally despised near-third world dictatorship, its corporate economy crumbling, its military aggression neutralized in conflicts from which it will never recover.

Good stuff. Also, I also love the fact that he has a much more cynical version of this piece which he said that he wrote in preparation for this one, but then decided he ought to dial it back a few notches. I’m glad he posted both though. Here’s a snippet from the super-cynical one. This passage is part of his description of what will happen during Kerry’s presidency.

Liberals will complain that Kerry is getting blamed for everything Bush did not get blamed for, but they don’t understand that the American collective consciousness has regressed below human thinking, below mammalian empathy, to the reptilian instinctive level of identifying and fighting enemies to the death. Therefore they will always forgive leaders with a ruthless and dominating persona, and crucify leaders who show any sign of empathy, flexibility, or thinking. Kerry will have a miserable term, the Republicans will build larger majorities in the House and Senate, and they will easily recapture the White House in 2008, possibly with Schwarzenegger, if they can get the Constitution amended, but more likely with Bush again, if he hasn’t succumbed to dementia from his years of cocaine abuse.

Smart fucking dude, good writer, bitchin’ politics. Oh, he also has a section of his site detailing his attempts to buy a plot of land to live more or less sustainably off the economic & power grid. It’s all very inspiring, and I’d like to try and move in this direction myself in the future.
