Wayne Dyer’s Power of Intention
Last night, I was up very late, unable to sleep and still feeling a little sick. I laid on the couch for a long time watching a very boring quasi-spiritual program on PBS called “The Power of Intention” with a fellow named Dr. Wayner Dyer. Apparently, he’s somewhat famous, and has a bunch of books, but I’ve never heard of him. He’s one of these guys that like, his message isn’t bad I guess, but neither does it really say anything at all. There are a lot of words and references and quotes thrown about, but I feel like it never really goes anywhere, or gets deep enough to ever be important.
Here are some quotes from him so you can get a taste of what I mean…
- Everything is in motion. Everything flows. Everything is vibrating.
- The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.
- Real magic in relationships means an absence of judgment of others.
- Everything you are against weakens you. Everything you are for empowers you.
- If we are to have magical bodies, we must have magical minds.
And it just goes on like that. Never getting any more than a certain pleasant vagueness. It reminds me of a less technical version of what that Ken Wilber guy does. But at least Wilber has a lot of bewildering vocabulary. I don’t understand why this sort of stuff gets so popular though. These people are some of the biggest selling spiritual authors, which kind of mystifies me.
