There’s something in this quote which seems important to me, although I’m not quite able to articulate what it is:

The theologian tries to explicate the world of faith which he or she shares. And, in so doing, theologians often adopt varying strategies by which to reformulate these beliefs in order to find a deeper understanding, a new way of thinking, or a creative synthesis between past and contemporary modes of expression.
