I’m aware that questioning the authenticity of news stories isn’t the most popular thing to do nowadays, but this whole thing about US troops finding “hostage slaughterhouses” just screams out for it. I almost don’t even want to talk about the news story, because it smacks of black propaganda, but oh well. Anyway, this super-short item on CNN says that US soldiers have discovered one of the locations where terrorists have been beheading hostages. The details of the whole thing sound a wee-bit staged to me, though:
- Soldiers found CDs labeled “beheading of …” and showing the decapitations of hostages.
Black clothing and masks worn by the kidnappers when they made the videos were found, along with banners hoisted in the background, according to Iraqi and U.S. military officials.
CD’s labelled “beheading of…?” I’m not buying that. This reminds me of how they supposedly discovered that abandoned car on the side of the road in Boston shortly after 9/11 which allegedly contained both a copy of the Koran and books about how to fly airplanes. They found that obvious of a clue, but didn’t manage to have ANY advance indication of what was an enormously detailed and exact plan involving dozens of perpetrators? If that’s true, then I’ll eat my hat!
