Really good article on Philip K Dick’s mysticism
It’s called “2-3-74 and After: A Mystical and Paranormal Overview” and is by Mark W. Smith. I would rank it as one of the best introductory articles I’ve seen online so far about the mystical things that happened to PKD. The focus of this article is comparative, so it pulls in all kinds of excellent references for further research. Lots of good details and clues to similar mystical experiences of many other noteworthy people, lots of which I’ve never heard of, and I’ve been looking into this for quite some time. Also, it doesn’t delve too deeply into just what it was that PKD saw, or what he thought it meant, which is a relief in some sense. Dick himself struggled for years and years to describe it, so if you want to know, just read what he wrote. Most people usually seem to have a hard time really translating any of it into their own words, myself included. Some of it is pretty dense. But all of it is very interesting. Anyway, good article. I recommend it highly.
