The End of Late Fees
We just went to Blockbuster to investigate this whole “end of late fees” thing that they are now advertising. I guess they got bought out by another company, and are suffering heavy losses to places like Netflix, so they are trying to fool people back into going there.
The whole end of late fees thing is a total crock though. Basically, what they do is you get an extended due date. Like if your movie is a x-number day rental, you get x+7 days to bring it back. Sort of like a grace period. What happens after that though, you wonder? Do you accrue late fees then? No, instead you automatically are forced to buy the movie. Well, that’s not so bad, right? Wrong! You don’t get to pay retail price, like you would in the store. You have to pay those super high video store prices, where a movie will cost you like $100 or something. Supposedly, if you don’t want it though, they will give you a refund within 30 days of that happening. But goddamn, talk about a shitty policy.
The end of late fees my nuts.
