Sloppy Joe’s

Last night, when I was writing my book introduction, I became keenly aware of how sloppy my writing can get. Writing on this blog has gotten me into a lot of bad habits, which I’m now trying to break. Enormous amounts of extraneous words. Sentence fragments. Weird slang. All stuff that’s fine for here, but not for a book that I’m trying to have be able to be taken sort of seriously, and possibly help establish some kind of writing career for me. So yeah…

The thing about blog writing that I like the most though is that I don’t have to worry about that stuff and I can just spout things off pretty randomly, and it’s all good. Sure, I’d like it to be a little technically better and more crafted. But it’s nice to be able to just write exactly the words that are in my head, as they come to me. Basically like dictating into a microphone. Except I can type much faster than I could probably dictate something, I think. Or who knows. Anyway, its not important. What is important though is that I remind myself not to go off on these long meandering sidetracks while I’m writing my book. At least not this book anyway.
