This is the end, my only friend

I have a really hard time writing endings. I’m not sure why. It doesn’t seem to matter what kind of writing it is, fictional or otherwise. Usually I just get to a point where it sort of peters out, or else I sense that it’s about to do that, so I’ll just abruptly stop it and tack on some kind of thing. But it never works, and it’s always transparent - at least to me. I feel like I can write pretty interesting openers, and I can take some good twists and turns with what I reveal in middles. But wrapping it all up just escapes me. Maybe all I need is inspiration though. Maybe I just need to spend more time looking at how other better writers end things, as far as the craft of it all. Can anybody recommend writers who’ve “got back” so to speak? Cause I could use a little more “junk in my trunk.”
