The Father and Son at the Beginning and End of Time
A while ago I wrote a post called The Big Crunch and the Arrow of Time… um, you might want to read that as background before you try and dive into this. I’ll try to summarize that stuff, but who knows how good of a job I’ll do.
Okay, so this is basically a cosmological model that I’ve cobbled together out of some of Philip K. Dick’s stuff, scientific theories about the universe’s beginning and end, and some other types of shit. Let me just start off with the little diagram I made and then we’ll go from there.

Okay, so what we’re looking at here is the beginning of time, the Big Bang, and the end of time, the Big Crunch. The Big Bang is that theoretical point where the universe started from some kind of primeval explosion. Everything got sent flying out from the center of this explosion. In this direction, chaos or entropy is seen as increasing as everything gradually fizzles out. Supposedly, at some point the Big Crunch will occur, which is when the universe finally collapses back in on itself. Everything gets kind of sucked back into that central point. The succession of Big Bangs and Big Crunches is pretty similar to the Hindu view of time, which I think is referenced by the word “yuga”.
Anyway, so I was trying to reconcile this scientific model with some religious symbology. At the center of the Big Bang, you can think of God (the Father) sitting there. Basically, what he is doing is differentiating. He’s splitting things into light/dark, sky/water, male/female, etc. He is flinging everything away from himself. He even flings Satan away from himself into the flames of hell - perhaps a reference to the explosion of the Big Bang. The universe that this God creates is thus a violent one. It is also a mechanistic one, in which cause-effect relationships rule supreme.
People always talk about how Jesus is going to come back at the end of time, the Second Coming, the Judgement, the End of Days. So I thought he might be a good symbol for the Big Crunch. The message Jesus brings is that God wishes for us to return to him. He wishes for us to be liberated from the tyranny of the mechanistic universe. In the Big Crunch, everything contracts back down to the singularity of God. Jesus also speaks a message of love, of bringing people together.
In the scientific theories, people talk about how at the Big Crunch, the flow of time will reverse itself. Things which were broken will be reformed. Similarly, at the Day of Judgement, we’re told that the dead will come back to life bodily. Perhaps this is because time will have been reversed. They will not only come back to life, but they will grow young, and climb back into their mother’s wombs, and on and on, all the way back to the beginning of time, and perfect union with god.
I wonder if anybody historically has ever talked about Jesus as being a purified version of Satan. Like, maybe when God flung Satan out of his presence, Satan was purified over the millenia - the explosions and flames of Hell/the Big Crunch. They say that when Jesus was crucified, he harrowed Hell, threw down the gates, and defeated the Devil’s reign. But maybe this speaks to Satan’s having been transfigured into becoming Jesus. But then maybe Jesus passed on through, and travelled to the end of the universe, where he is waiting for us, to shepherd us back when the Big Crunch happens.
There must be some kind of mystical/occult interpretations of Christian cosmology that come close to this. I’d be interested in seeing them if anybody’s heard of anything.
