Jack Black’s Rat Fancy
Evidently, Jack Black the comedian is not the first notable personage of that name. Another notable instance was Jack Black the 19th century rat-catcher and mole-destroyed appointed by Queen Victoria herself. He is said to have walked about in an all-scarlet outfit featuring a “huge leather belt inset with cast-iron rats.” He was also a dog-breeder, and his interest in getting animals to fuck each other for fun and profit naturally poured over into his rat work. When he found unusual rats, he bred and sold them to well-to-do young ladies as pets. Author Beatrix Potter is said to have been one of his customers. In fact, he is commonly believed to be the origin of the modern practice of pet rats, or what is more technically termed “rat fancy.”
