Spirit Orbs as Fourier Transforms

I’m re-reading Michael Talbot’s Holographic Universe and came across mention of something called Fourier Transforms. I’m not going to pretend that I even have half a clue as to how the mathematics behind it works, but it is some way of using calculus to transform images (and other patterns, I think) into some kind of language of dots or something. I don’t know. Anyway, I need to read more about it, but have yet to find anything that gives a good introduction for people who haven’t done any math in a long ass time.

This one page though has some really cool pictures and their corresponding Fourier Transforms underneath them. Check out a few examples:

The book talks about various research which says that the way our vision works is somehow related to what’s going on here with the Fourier Transforms (FT). And it even says that there is some possibility that the brain also stores complex body movements and a whole host of other sensory data using FT’s. Which is pretty nuts, since FT’s also figure prominently in how holograms are created. Again, I’m not totally sure of the science or math behind it, but it’s really cool.

Anyway, I was looking at these FT’s underneath those images, and I realized that they reminded me of something: of those shitty spirit orbs that ghost hunters are always claiming are such big important evidence of life after death. Like they will go to a graveyard or a haunted house or something, and you’ll see a bunch of orbs floating around. Here’s a good example actually.

I guess I was kind of thinking that maybe what these orbs are is somehow analogous to being Fourier Transforms of people who have died and now exist only as like “interference patterns” of energy. Something like that. I’m trying to look around to see if anybody else has advanced a similar theory. So far nothing. I know this book goes into ghosts later on, but I forget if he specifically brings up this thing with the orbs. I wonder if you took a photo of one of these orbs and did a reverse Fourier Transform on it, what would it look like? More than likely nothing, but it’s a cool idea.
