Back in Business

GOOD GOD!

I finally figured out what the hell the problem was and now my Story-Systems blog is back up and running after 3 days of aggravation. It was a really small solution which finally fixed it.

You may remember that I was getting the WordPress error message:

Error establishing a database connection […]

Well, what I finally did to fix it was change the DB_HOST value in my wp-config.php file from “localhost” to “127.0.0.1″. I don’t have a vast knowledge of these things, but I have read things which lead me to believe that these values are roughly equivalent somehow. If anybody can explain to me exactly how or why, I’d appreciate it.

Anyway, the weird part is that I had used the “localhost” value up until last weekend, when everything went haywire, my entire site went down for a while, came back intermittently, and then my WordPress install couldn’t access the DB anymore. That is until my solution described above. It’s still sort of a mystery to me why this all happened. Oh well. At least I can get back to writing now instead of researching what the hell is going wrong.
