I’m a year too late in reporting this, but it’s extremely hilarious. Last year a documentary came out in Canada about Osama Bin Laden, whose aim was to depict his human qualities, beyond just the caricature we mostly see him as.

Such shocking personal secrets were revealed in the documentary as “Osama loves volleyball” and “Osama hates ice.” I guess the documentary focused on a Canadian Arab family who lived closely with Osama’s family for some time at one point. Also, apparently, Osama promised his children that they could have horses if they memorized the Koran.

I guess the hating ice thing is supposed to be because he didn’t want his family to become spoiled. He banned ice (and even electricity in some parts of his compound) to prepare his family for the hard times ahead, where no such comforts would be possible.

This is all well and good, but I personally don’t believe in the Osama Bin Laden myth really at all. I’m much more inclined to believe in the literal physical existence of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, than in some dude crouching in a cave, eating rocks, and taking over the entire world with a terrorist organization that doesn’t even exist.
