Movies watch us

My friend John and I cooked up a really cool concept last night that I really like. He was talking about the concept of the multiverse, how you have all these different streams of reality overlapping each other and stuff. And what if movies (or at least some movies) were actually really alternate dimensions that really existed alongside ours. In other words, Star Wars is an actual real event - more of a documentary than a work of fiction.

From there, we started talking about how what if in this alternate worlds, people watched movies of our lives as entertainment. Since these people lived in weird wild worlds of excitement and explosions, their idea of entertainment would be to watch our normal ordinary boring lives. Which would mean that our normal ordinary boring conversations and interactions to them would seem superbly interesting and exciting: our phone conversations, our 9-5 jobs, etc.

Following in the theme of Star Wars and the fanatics it inspires, we also went off on this idea about how in this weird alternate universe, there are movie fans who dress up in costumes to look like us, and who sleep outside theatres for days to buy tickets. And then there are other fans who sit around bickering about how the newest movies of us aren’t as good as the old ones, and how they wish we would get back to the old story-lines which made us popular in the first place.
