You still alive out there?

Stumbled across a semi-clever blog plugin script today called LifeStatus. It uses your last login date to offer visitors a probability determination of whether or not you’re still alive. If you combined this with the idea I once heard about preserving blogs as memorials of bloggers who died, could be kinda cool. This also raises another issue I was thinking about a while ago: what happens if one of our circle of blog-friends sites suddenly go offline for any number of reasons. While it might be possible to reconstruct some of the site through Googles cache, and Archive.org, it’d be difficult to do it with any completeness. I wonder if there is some kind of script or robot or something we could set up where the sites of people in a user-defined group could be periodically spidered, archived, and copied to local machines.
