I had a dream this morning where I was really pissed off, so I decided I would go for a walk to clear my head. Out in front of the house was a car with the back right door open. The driver was about to pull off, and I ran up and told them there were keys still stuck in the door. I took them out, handed it to them, and somehow ended up sitting in the backseat as the driver took off. All of a sudden, I realized the driver was Ben Affleck (who I hate). He started talking to me about the car, which was this weird futuristic car from India, supposedly called “The Edge.” It had all these weird buttons all over it, and could for some reason also drive sideways.
Anyway, we’re driving around, he says something to me which I forget. And then I say, “Oh yeah I love your movies.” To which, he replied: “Now you don’t.” This was true, so I backtracked, “Well, some of them.” (I at least liked Armaggedon alright.) So after that he drives over to where some movie is being filmed. It’s this old abandoned section of the city which had been partly demolished or destroyed somehow, and is normally completely sealed off. We get out, and walk up to this one part, where a guard blocks our way. We want to go past him, but he won’t let us because it’s not safe. But then he asks if we’d like to see his tools or instruments or something. And we agree, and go past the barrier.
At that point, we turn around and see the city laid out behind us. In real life, there is this old projects-style apartment building which was built over a road. There are plans to demolish it in a couple months. In my dream, we witnessed the demolition right then and there. The building came down and everyone applaused. But then, unexpectedly, a nearby apartment building cracked and the top fell down, crushing the rest of the building and everyone inside. Everybody started screaming.
We immediately realized the explosion had triggered some kind of seismic wave which was headed straight for the abandoned part of the city we were in. I suddenly knew that I was going to die, because we were standing on this precipice and though we were running for safe ground, there was no way we’d make it in time. I tripped and fell over and couldn’t get up. Suddenly, all these leaves blew past me. They landed in front of me in a pile in the shape of a face. I knew the face was God’s and that death was upon me. The wind blew some more and the face turned into an eye, and then all of a sudden it was all over.
But I was unharmed. Only I had turned into a young brown-skinned girl from South Asia like you see on those Feed The Children commercials. Ben Affleck came up to me, except his head was covered in this weird clay mask. He tore off the mask, and then told me about how he had stayed with me at the hospital, and “read my information disc” (which I take to be some kind of futuristic version of a medical record or something). Then I remembered something else I had experienced during the moment of terror. Somehow Ben Affleck’s brother was also dying at the same time, and in my mind, I heard the sentence which his brother kept repeating in order to focus and calm himself as he died. I asked Ben if he wanted to know what it was, and he told me that he already did. Then he handed me these two clay-covered pieces of wrecked machinery which he had supposedly salvaged from the closed-off wrecked part of the city we’d been visiting.
Then I woke up.
