Just came across a truly excellent passage from a discussion over on the Barbelith forums.
imagine what would happen to Pulp Fiction if, when the character of Jules looked into the briefcase, he “woke up” in mid-scene and not only realized that he was a character in a movie, but also realized that he “was” also Mace Windu and Shaft and a bunch of other characters in realities he can scarcely comprehend, while also glimpsing an uber-reality where all of those realities are just movies and he’s an actor called Samuel L. Jackson
Awesome. The context that they are talking about it has to do with Grant Morrison’s comic book series, The Invisibles, and they are talking about people moving outside of space-time, and realizing the entire continuum of their existence in many different forms, times and places. The analogy above is one of the best I’ve seen in this area of thought.

That’s great! I don’t have anything of substance to add, I just think that’s a really cool insight.
The Invisibles fucking rock–RAW also does this in Schroedingers Cat Trilogy and Illuminatus!.
Reminds me of the Monroe material: he traveled out of body and met versions of himself in previous and future lifetimes, traveling easily between dimensions. Not only that, he spent a lifetime creating training material that would allow anybody to do the same thing.
Keep the articles coming! Thanks for your continued investigations, Tim!
The blue man in Moore’s Watchmen and his disconnection from humanity. “in a few minutes you will tell me you are having an affair. I will be angry. ON the moon I will build my sanctum and think about whether to save the world.”
