Celebrity Tarot - The Secret Society
My latest tarot creation: The Secret Society…

The Secret Society is the unseen hand in the darkness. The puppet-masters pulling the strings, secret Illuminati cabals acting as shadow government across the globe. They are the ultimate conspirators, the hidden purpose behind seemingly random events. They are the club that would never have you as a member. They are forces conspiring against you, although some claim they only have our best interests at heart. They could be anyone, anywhere. They could be you, or me. Their faces are hidden by the contorted expression of masks. The masks in this image are from Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut. Just like they mask their identities, so too do they take on many names and outward signs. Just as the demon answers Jesus in Mark 5:9 “My name is Legion; for we are many”: The Freemasons, the Stonecutters, Skull & Bones, the CFR, the Tri-Lateral Commission, the Bilderberg Group, the New World Order, Bohemian Grove, Luciferians, the Elders of Zion, Crypto-Nazis, Republicans… The list goes on and on.
In this card, we also see George W. Bush giving what some claim is the horned sign of the devil, a symbolic message to his Skull & Bones brethren. Next to him we see the grinning visage of Darth Maul. His purpose is threefold. He reminds us of the “Phantom Menace”; he represents the villain-as-hero (anti-hero); and he reminds us that some of our fears and imaginings about secret societies are only fictional creations. But which ones…? At the base of the card on the left, we also see a drawing by a child said to have been a victim of Satanic Ritual Abuse. To the right of that, we find an image lifted from a religious propagandist, attempting to portray non-Christian religious practices as evil and dangerous - a reminder to beware prejudice in the search for the truth.
In its positive aspect, the Secret Society card reminds us that someone is in control. Our craft does have a pilot, even though we cannot see him. In this sense, it could also be interpreted as a kind of intuition, or instinct. It could be desires and knowledge which is inherent in us, but which we are not yet ready to allow up to the surface of our conscious awareness. In its simplest most concrete form, the Secret Society simply challenges us to look beyond the surface and ask pointed questions about what’s really going on.

You really are on a creative roll with these cards. I love both the artwork and the commentary, especially on this one and on the $awbone$ card.

I realize the freemasons are always linked with these other groups in conspiracy theory. It’s just kind of a shame that it still happens.
Also, why is this necessarily a sinister seeming card? Secrets aren’t all bad, just unknown.

scott, im merely trying to dip into the well of popular fear and opinion. of course not all freemasons are bad. nor are the jews, or even the UN, whose logo i put. whether or not secrets are bad they seem scary to the unitiated, i think. if you go back and read my write-up, you’ll see that i made a point to highlight the positive aspects as well. anyway, i like your comments because they show that these cards act as a mirror. each person sees in them what they want to, or what they wish wasn’t there…

I did miss the positive aspect. Sorry, Tim.
Popular fear and opinion. Heh. Well, I guess it’s better to be feared than ignored.
