The Hollywood Tarot
Turns out we’re not the first people to cook up this idea of trying to apply the archetypes in the tarot deck onto modern celebrities. But so far, we’re blowing away everybody else I’ve seen doing it. Actually, okay, I’ve only seen one other site doing it. They are calling it the Hollywood Tarot. Their graphics are pretty weak compared to all the awesome collage stuff all of us are doing, but they have some halfway decent card-celebrity correlations. Their site layout’s actually pretty tricky to navigate as well, but you should be able to find some of their card images down at the bottom of this page.
Also, while we’re on the topic, there are some good resources online about how to create your own collage tarot cards. There’s also an interesting passage in a book by Antero Alli called “Angel Tech” about designing your own tarot deck. This book is an extension of Timothy Leary/Robert Anton Wilson’s 8 Circuit Consciousness Model. He claims that it helps activate the sixth circuit, which relates to psychic intelligence & clairvoyance. In the Leary/Wilson model, it’s referred to as the Neuro-electric circuit and relates to the concept of “metaprogramming.” Whether or not you subscribe to all that, I can personally attest to it having a big effect on you. The more actively you start envisioning things in this light, the easier it becomes to do it more and more. So far, this celebrity tarot stuff seems to be the quickest and easiest way of transmitting how to approach that way of thinking to other people.
I’ll be writing more extensively on this soon. I’m also planning to put together a page devoted to these cards, so we can have them all assembled (or at least linked) from one place - along with information about how to create them and why, etc. If anyone wants to contribute any writing on that (especially in terms of why you enjoy these, or find them useful - and how it relates to classical occult/psychological/spiritual/creative techniques), go ahead and post it on your site, and toss me a link in the comments.
