Jeremy posted a great list of other tarot card ideas he’s working on or at least thinking about, so I thought I’d do the same. Feel free to try your hand at some of these, or do overlapping ones, or ones that somehow riff on these. Nobody really “owns” these ideas in my opinion (or rather everybody does), since they are just made up of the detritus of our common culture, and our archetypal heritage.

Anyway, my ideas are:

1. Bob Dylan as The Troubador
2. Some kind of combination of Bin Laden and Luke Skywalker to highlight the similarity between their stories, and the good/bad aspects of The Rebel - this might also include other “rebel” celebrity references like James Dean
3. Want to do one that’s a combination of aliens and archons, and possibly also demons and angels
4. The Collector - This would be a card about obsessive material acquisitiveness. In it’s more positive aspect, maybe it would be called The Librarian or The Keeper
5. I want to do one called Identity Theft which would probably include a suit with a bunch of question marks (like the Riddler in Batman) and somebody’s soul being sucked out of them (this card would also probably reference the Collector and the Corpsoration)
6. The Skeptic - someone who refuses to believe vs. someone who is too gullible
7. I’ve also got a “killer” idea for the Death card, which will probably be my next one. DONE!
8. Some kind of thing with Elvis as “The King” but I might make it so he’s like an underworld king or “King of the Dead” or something like that.
9. I have sort of a loose idea about doing a card based on Professor Xavier of the X-Men. Since he sits in a chair all day and communicates with his mind, I was thinking he might be a good sort of “patron saint” for the internet. Not sure how this idea will come to pass though…
10. I have a halfway decent if overly obvious idea for The World card, which would incorporate a lot of Mother Earth stuff and feel-good New Ageism
11. Garrett also had a good idea for a card called The Trickster for “hackers, pirates, etc” which would be some kind of play on Napster. The tricky part would be figuring out how to convey the positive aspect of rebellion and the negative aspect of selling out to the Corpsoration.
12. I keep meaning to do an Arnold Schwarzenegger The Governator card too, but haven’t gotten around to it. It would be him as both Governor and Terminator, and would reference both the Emperor and The Chariot cards in the regular Rider-Waite deck.
13. I also want to do a card about insanity. Maybe it would have straight jackets, padded room, Arkham Asylum references. It would sort of be about what happens when you restrict (or embrace) the Divine Chaos card
14. The Comedian - Could be an obvious play off the traditional Fool card, or could be something else.
15. The Boy Wizard - a cross between Harry Potter and Jesus teaching in the Temple as a youth. Also might include child prodigies like Bobby Fisher. DONE!
16. That Crossing Over dude as “The Necromancer”
17. Something called “The Race Card” since everybody’s always talking about “pulling” that
18. The DJ
19. The Secret Police
20. The Triple Agent
21. The Alien
22. Mind Control
23. The Cult

I know I have some other ones, but those are what I’ve been stockpiling on a little list on my desk….
