Blocked By WebSense

This just in: apparently if you work at a place that uses WebSense, then you’re not reading this! Dan from Mental Deviance wrote today:

Hey guys, guess what! Jerry’s & Tim Boucher’s sites are both blocked by a program called Websense that is used in the school district I teach in. They are not blocked on all computers though. Different categories can be activated, so when I am at the local high school, I can visit their sites, but at the Juvenile Hall their sites are blocked under “Occult and Alternative Religion.” Isn’t that total bullshit? Alternative Religion is blocked in a government facility!

Also, Tim’s site was just recently added to the database, because his site wasn’t blocked a few weeks ago.

OH GOODY! As everybody knows, alternative religion is the number one threat in America today. I mean, I guess I’d be a lot more up in arms over this if I wasn’t pretty much expecting it. You know, if they’d block somebody like Maddox, then they’d block me. I like Maddox’s solution: block them bitches back. Does anybody know of a website that lets you track various web-filtering software and see if you’re on their “shit list”?

Anyway, it’s certainly an “interesting” problem to put it mildly. What if one day the switch is thrown, and our communications link is severed? Jeremy wrote earlier about the need to develop offline communication to back this up, so we can continue publishing and sharing ideas in case the whole country decided to “filter” us out. I hate putting up two semi-paranoid posts back to back, but it seems worth thinking about. I mean, I know if I lost my cell phone, I’d basically not know anybody’s phone number. But if I lost internet access too? I don’t even like to think about it.

strange, my site is labelled ‘personal website.’ yours is definitely under “Non-Traditional Religions and Occult and Folklore.” what a crazy, crazy thing.

i signed up for a fake account, so if anyone else wants their website tested, let me know!

This is pretty gross that they block sites anyway. If someone wants to go look at midget porn during work hours - simply log it - and then fire them for being obscene or not conforming to work policy - but at least give them the choice. I love my job becuase we have no censorhsip at my work - even though it’s a corporation - whether they log what I do or not - I have no idea - I hope they don’t see the rabbit fetish i have though…anyway - - - you are only big time once you get banned somewhere - - - JVMM is banned everywhere its hilarious - - of course — its also obscene - lol
