Think of all those Bush supporters who, although they "support the troops", never imagined that they or their children would actually have to put themselves in harm's way. How would <i>they</i> react to a draft? There's been a lot of discussion about the political consequences of a draft at both Eschaton and Americablog. It's not clear that anybody knows for sure what is going to happen, but I think Bush and Rumsfeld will hold off for as long as possible. Well, a draft would be politically damaging to this administration.
