I found a really excellent site called Exit Mundi which has tons of End of the World scenarios. It’s nice cause it covers everything from outer space-based cataclysms to man-made ones to religious ones. So far this is the most comprehensive overview of apocalypse theories that I’ve found - and I’ve been looking feverishly for days and days. The writing on this site is really accesible and pop-culture oriented, which I like. And for the most part, the quality of information is very good.
It’s nice to be able to look at all these various scenarios side-by-side. It gives you a good sense of how the apocalypse fantasy has changed over the ages from being religious to being scientific or social (each of which is essentially a modern religion). It’s also interesting to go through them and guage your reaction as to the “reality” of these scenarios. Some seem really far out, and some eerily possible. It becomes a good indicator of what you believe and what you think is real, and what you’re afraid of.
While we’re on the subject, here’s also a few lists of various end of the world dates. Some of them have already passed, and some are yet to come.
- 220 dates for the End of the World
- 22 End of the World Prophecies (post 2010)
- 20 End of the World predictions between 2005 and 2010
- ReligiousTolerance.org also has some 7 dozen other predictions of End-Dates that have already passed.
- Crystalinks also has a big list of prophets and prophecies (although not all are apocalyptic)
Enjoy!

A book recommendation for people interested in compilations of apocalyptic prophecies: The Millennium Book Of Prophecy by John Hogue. It has not been made obsolete by the millennium coming and going.
