R2D2 as the Ringbearer

The other night I had a thoroughly awesome dream. It was a spontaneous fusion of the Star Wars mythos with that of Lord of the Rings. You can only imagine the freakin awesomeness that resulted. There’s one scene I remember pretty well. Instead of Frodo Baggins, the little robot R2D2 was the bearer of the One Ring. And instead of faithful Sam Gamgee at his side, he had C3PO. The two travelled to some remote location (possibly the volcano planet from the end of Sith), and there was this ledge they were standing on. At the other end of it was Darth Vader in this like rock-shrine, and he was basically Sauron. He was there to stop them from destroying the One Ring. Probably the coolest part of the whole thing though was when R2D2 slipped on the Ring during the fight. First he turned totally golden, and then disappeared in a shimmer. Even better than that, I was not only watching the action, but at one point I also experienced it from R2’s perspective. Awesome stuff.
