I try not to post about mindless celebrity shit - except when it involves weirdo religious or paranormal stuff. For anybody who’s been following the latest Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes shenanigans, it seems like we have a little bit of both. Cruise recently had this to say in regards to Katie Holmes and Scientology:
“Yes, absolutely. She digs it,” the 42-year-old actor tells the magazine.
When asked if he’s become more passionate about Scientology, Cruise says: “I’ve always been passionate about it. I’ve always talked about it when people asked about it.”
He also confirmed there was a Scientology massage tent on the set of his upcoming film, “War of the Worlds.”
“I also had a cappuccino tent on that set. And I made sure the crews were fed well, too. And if someone wanted an assist from a (Scientology) volunteer, it was there for them,” he says. “People are curious about it — they’re always asking me about it, they want to know what Scientology is.”
Ahhh, cappucino and Scientology: together at last.
Anyway, if you want to see something REALLY weird, check out this interview clip with Cruise (it’s really short) where he’s talking to Billy Bush about how evil psychiatry is and how good Scientology is. The dude appears to be majorly whacked out on goofballs. In related news, I’ve been doing some really fascinating research about Scientology and it’s origins. And if you think Cruise is weird, then just wait till I drop some of this other stuff on you. I’ve gotta figure out a way to do it judiciously though, because they seem to be extremely aggressive in stamping out information which doesn’t agree with their image or official history.
UPDATE! Apparently, Cruise has a new publicist which is part of why he’s been talking about Scientology so much; his old one wouldn’t let him talk about it (wisely).

Watching that Cruise clip, I can’t help but wonder where his real personality ends and his acting begins. You’re right, it is creepy.
How can psychology be a massive fraud, when at least its methods are free to examine? And so what if psychology is a fraud, that still doesn’t exonerate Scientology from being a cryptic cult that’ll break your legs if you reveal too much. What’s the psychological state of a man who is so wrapped up in his pet obsession/cult status that he does his “Tom Cruise schtick” in order to get how serious he is across? Pathological megalomania?
What are the psychological delusions Scientology presumes to instill in its adherents? Cruise’s “I love everybody/will help everybody” reminds me of the classic “Bushism” in which Dubya said he was “The One” who would be providing hugs for the wives and children of lost soldiers. An interesting direction we could take with this is to look for more quotes by rich and powerful people that hint at a delusion far more insidious than just “what an idiot”. Maybe there’s something mindcontrol-y at work here. Then again, maybe its too much time spent in banal elitist tub. 6.5 billion unknowable slaves “out there” waiting for an esoteric, unimaginative “salvation” at Scientology/Pentagon psyops asking prices, compared to a few thousand familiar faces and personas in the inner circle psychological agitprop. Of course they delusionally believe the pap they spew! They’re the only souls that matter in the end.
*me in singsongy voice*: psycho.
“psychological agitprop” is a remnant from how I originally phrased my comment. You can edit that out if you’d like Tim.
yeah i forgot to mention how much he reminded me of george bush in that clip (which is doubly weird, since he’s talking to Billy Bush - coincidence?). they must have gone to the same acting program. anyway it seems like the reason they hate psychiatry so much (they seem to ignore psychology) is that they are direct competitors in “helping” people.
psychiatry is a monstrous fraud.it a game played by medical doctors so that they can deliver medications to people with mental “Illness”.
a psychiatrist is a psycologist with a medical degree.they are drug dealers.shills for the pharmaceutical companies.
in the psychiatric texts there is not one treatment process.none.zero.
you got to a psyciatrist they will listen to you for a minute or two then give you drugs that make phenobarbitol seem like asperin.these new classes of drugs are now illegal to prescribe for anyone under the age of 18.too many parents of dead and psychotic children sueing the drug companies and doctors.
ssri s and mao inhibitors will, over time, alter brain chemistry so profoundly as to become permenant.this post is too small a forum for an exhustive discussion of this topic but the net is full of activist sites with precise information about this.
needless to say,the people who we entrust with our mental and physical health are the one`s dealing madness and death.
i doubt whether this is scientologies position on the matter though.more likely they are being territorial over the kill.
scientology,is a cult with different pricing for different income levels.i understand that you can spend thousands of dollars chasing after the state of “clear”,which is thier cured state.basically, what tom cruise is doing is an infomercial for the church.
yeah its tricky because i too dislike psychiatry and using drugs to control - i mean, cure - people. scientology seems to have figured out a low-tech method to do the same thing
William S. Burroughs was heart broken when he realized that the techniques of Scientology (which he considered *massively* effective) were being used as a means of control and manipulation.
And am I the only one who thought that Cruise seemed pretty damn cool in that interview? He may be crazed, but at least he’s got passion and sincerity, and I associate all three of those traits with waking up (or becoming schitzophrenic.)
hm, weird, because i thought he seemed more like he was acting a role. i mean, he is a professional actor after all. who knows what he really feels
is the scientology e-meter the same as galvanic skin response? id have to look into it more, but i believe jung used that a great deal in his work
waking up.yes good morning sleeping beauties.let`s have some breakfast……food for thought.any cohesive form of cognition is an antidote for the sleep of the living.self discipline.resisting the urge to max out the visa card before the anxiety hits, riding the feelings out like the tidal wave of some hurtling monster.our nervous system is wired for experience but consumerism demands somnambulance.we switch off so automatically that when we forget to for some reason we are thrown into confusion.the full blast rip-tide ride of real reality is too much for some.though it is what we all cry out for in the night in the vain hope that if we hell loud enough and long enough our mother will bring it to us,hoping we will just go back to sleep.
once we realise that we can`t fail we start to go a little closer to the edge and eventually just let ourselves fall into the net that magically appears each time.
be assured that when we do manage to slip free the idea we can fail there are those that still do fear that will fear that much more knowing that you are free.
the last thing the bishop wants to hear is that a miracle has been performed in his diocese.
a man goes to psychiatrist because he`s stressed and the doctor asks him what`s wrong.the man says he hears a voice in his head telling him that there has to be something better in life than blah, blah, blah.so the doctor goes inside and says to himself,”hmm, this guy`s hearing voices,he`s fucking nuts.we`d better give him some pills to stop this.”
god help us all.
I’m sure you’ve already done some research into the topic of Scientology, so I’ll pass on the usual announcements made by Scientology critics: “Scientology is evil, do a Web search for XENU, etc.” Instead, I’ll suggest to you and your readers that the most unbiased and “neutral” look at Scientology on the Internet right now is the Scientology entry at Wikipedia. It looks at both sides of the issue, delves into the actual beliefs and methods of Scientology, points out the controversy and the “dark side” of the Church of Scientology, and has plenty of links to both sides of the issue. Anyone who wants to get a good look at Scientology should make Wikipedia their first stop.
thanks! i will!
