If memory serves, Tesla once boasted that he could split the earth in half by using it's own electro-magnetic field. Allegedly, the basic technology was explored and improved upon by Dr. Bernard Eastlund, a physicist, who made patent applications for this stuff in the early 80's. The military classified the patents and they are now the property of a major defense contractor, Raytheon.
