Louis Farrakhan: UFO Nut?
I’ll have to look into this more, but Platitudes & Paragons has an interesting piece about UFO’s and religious movements. One bit that I found rather surprising was that everyone’s favorite racist American Islamic leader, Louis Farrakhan allegedly is a UFO contactee:
“I was transported by a small, circular plane- you call it a UFO-to a great mother wheel,” he claims. “Before you call me crazy, these wheels will be seen all over America. They’ll be coming down over the major cities. You will look up one day and see them, and I don’t want you to be terrified. They’re your friends.”
That quote comes from BibleUFO.com although I plan to go and look for some supporting material, perhaps from a more reputable source. (A simple Google search for “Farrakhan UFO” yields more than a few results) The other interesting thing that Platitudes goes into a little bit is the similarity between this Farrakhan quote and the recent Prophet Yahweh UFO flap (plus a bunch of other stuff). The whole article’s worth checking out.

You’re familiar with Louis Farrakhan’s Calypso Recordings, yes?
(click through - there should be some realaudio files. It’s been years since I’ve tried these links, so I don’t know if the files are still there or not)

[…] As much of Saab paints his characters as left-wing heroes, there are some unfortunate and heavy-handed depictions of women through the book as well. In fact, I can’t recall any female characters who weren’t either vile demonic temptresses, prostitutes, KKK members or Neo-Nazis. He also seems to have a special axe to grind with the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan and their teachings that black people come from another planet. There is also a strong fixation with the beneficial industrial uses of hemp (along with copious use of “the chronic”). […]
