Mind Beside Itself

Thanks to Paulina for sending me what looks to be an interesting book, Mind Beside Itself, by F.D. Krill. Here’s part of the opening paragraph which is rather relevant to the recent discussions:

Western mind encapsulated at an early age by a trickster god, seals its air holes with runaway rationalism and destructive diversions. It’s not that our civilization refuses to offer us important truths to ponder, but it sells these truths as absolutes, dogmatic jars to limit our reach and blur our visions. We accept our managed myopia as shelter from the demons and dragons that prowl the depths, always reluctant to ask too many questions, always scared to look too deeply at the freak-monkey that stares back at us from behind our slanted mirrors, anxious that we haven’t bolted all our doors and windows we shudder to think that we might have locked the demon in with us.

The book’s in kind of an odd format. It doesn’t have any chapters or anything. It simply has passages on all different topics which begin with a line in bold and end with a line break. Seems to range all over the map, and is the sort of thing best swallowed little by little, as it’s not really a continuous narrative. Anyway, it’s off to a good start…
