A Snake A Day…

Neeranjan Bhaskar eats one live snake a day. He recounts how it all started in the Calcutta Telegraph:

“A dhor snake had attacked me. I tried hard to get rid of it, but the snake did not leave me. When I could not find a way to get rid of it, I bit the snake, in a fit of anger and pain. I continued biting it and finally ate it.”

The first experience was “interesting”, says the painter and added that the snake’s blood had tasted strange.

“Since that day, I started eating a snake everyday,” adds the man with a proud smile.

Bhaskar has supposedly eaten more than 4,000 live snakes, including cobras. Yeah, I don’t totally get how that works either.

When I was 10, my cousins and I went hiking at Dexter Park in the San Fernando Valley. My cousin Tony caught a garden snake. A homeless Native American man who was sleeping in the park saw us, saw the snake, and said he’d cook it for us.

I suspect he was just hungry, but he did offer us some of the “meat” after he gutted it and cooked it on a makeshift spit. No one else wanted to eat the snake except for me, and that’s just because I wanted to know what snake tastes like.

    It tastes like chicken.

I don’t know, but maybe you ate boiled or steamed crabs before, like you have to take out the gills and grey shit, maybe it is just a poison gland and chop off the head and drain it a bit I guess…

You have to ask this dude how he cooks the snake.
