Pat Robertson Calls for Assassination of Hugo Chavez

Whew, what a total asshole. Am I crazy, or isn’t there some prohibition against Christians advocating murder?

VIRGINIA BEACH (AP) — Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson suggested on-air that American operatives assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to stop his country from becoming “a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism.”

“We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability,” Robertson said Monday on the Christian Broadcast Network’s The 700 Club.

“We don’t need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator,” he continued. “It’s a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with.”

Chavez has emerged as one of the most outspoken critics of President Bush, accusing the United States of conspiring to topple his government and possibly backing plots to assassinate him. U.S. officials have called the accusations ridiculous.

“You know, I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it,” Robertson said. “It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war … and I don’t think any oil shipments will stop.”

I’m not even going to bother wasting my breath ripping this guy to shreds. What’s the point? How can somebody like this even pretend to be Christian? This shit totally mystifies the crap out of me. This bastard needs to concentrate on his magical diet shakes and pancakes.

UPDATE!

What I’m really curious about though is does this mean that Pat Robertson is now technically a terrorist? Or does that only apply to people who threaten the US government? If that’s the case, then Robertson has done that publicly as well. He was actually so brazen last year I believe to suggest that a small nuclear device should be used to shake up the headquarters of the State Department. Does that mean the 700 Club and the Christian Coalition will now be listed as terrorist organizations, and that people who have given them money will now be tracked and monitored?

pat robertson can eat a fat dick. its too bad that old fucking child molesting relic can’t go ahead and assassinate himself. i thought the Church held suicide as a sin, but who the hell knows now?!

    go for it pat!

Well, these are the same people who think ‘jesus hates queers’ and that god is a god of war against the sinners. I’m suprised they haven’t invented a holiday to celebrate soddom and gommorah.

If everytime you see these wingnut ‘christians’ you just tell yourself they’re some kind of warlike babylonian cult it all makes sense.

I wish the response included something besides just calling Robertson a “fascist”. That word is just really losing it’s potency nowadays. I wonder if we can find a more complete transcription of the Chavez camp’s reaction. They must have had other stuff to say as well.

if you read the old testament you realise how well bought in some of these people are. similar to radical anything else. and really dangerous, given enough power.

  6. albion Says:

i’d say ‘fascism’ is an apt term, ‘babylonian war cult’ possibly even more so.

Why do the fundamentalist Christians, Jews and Muslims, the Church of Satan hangers-on, the jaded effete upper class of today’s America and pre-revolutionay France, the Stalinists, the Nazis, the Positivist Randian Libertarians all end up acting in one accord?

I’m told they are caught up in the counter-initiation, they know not what they do. At the pole, all divisions are meaningless. It seems that at the periphery, the divisions are innumerable and therefore indistinguishable.

“War cult” is right on the money.

Pat Robertson The Most Dangerous Man in America…

If your governments in their infinite wisdom are deporting and/or confining radical religious leaders for preaching hate and violence, when is the Coalition of the Willing going to send Pat Robertson packing to Gitmo for demanding the assassination of a democratically elected leader?

Couldn’t agree more Alex. It’s great to hear from somebody who’s down on the front lines in all this.
