Hearing everybody’s tales of monsters, ghosts and religious encounters has got me wanting to put together a sort of anthology. Would anybody have an interest in contributing stories to that? Over the next couple months I plan to put together an independent press as an extension of Pop Occulture, and I think this stuff would make a really great book or series of books. In any event, it’s just an idea right now. But I thought I’d guage people’s interest level in terms of both contributing to a book like that and actually reading a book of other people’s experiences. If and when I’m ready for something like this, I’ll post an update with all the relevant details. Until then, lemme know what you think!

heh, count me in for sure.
Damn, Tim. Excellent. I hear things clicking into place already. Gears are moving.
A gem from occultforums.com.
yep, supercool. “i see monsters” is some of the most interesting stuff i’ve read in ages. great idea.
btw what’s with the underwhelming response to your request for group experiences? do they rarely happen, or are people even less likely to discuss those for some reason?
shame, i find the group stories even more interesting. they do seem more real, like how creepy is the fatima thing? stories like that and jp’s are a thrill to read. i’ve seen ufos with other people on 2 occasions, but neither experience was particularly interesting so i didn’t post.
anyway, the book sounds great. jeremy, weren’t you going to do something similar with gnostic experiences? maybe you guys could work together (just an idea) and draw parallels between the “monster” and “gnostic” experiences? it’s a hunch, but i feel that for the most part they are the same thing. oh well, whatever you do, it’s all good.
Sure.
I’d read it for sure.
count me in
i have tons of stories bout this shit i’m just looking for an excuse to tell
I am very excited about this. For sure!
do you know what I’d like to see? How about some artistic representations of the things people have encountered.
Garrett’s got a good idea there, but the one thing I find that really turns people off of serious discussion about this is cheesy illustrations. Unless you’re willing to pay professional illustrators or you got really good artist friends, I would suggest avoiding this. There is a certain approach to illustration that can be considered applicable to serious debate, and most laymen are not aware or trained in.
On another note, here is more monster stuff:

And on that, please note the cheesy illustration in the above URL I just posted. Notice what sort of subtle context it places upon the content of the article.
Yeah, I’d definitely be up for it. That sounds really great, and this is a perfectly well-established place for something like that. I’ve got a few, and I’ll keep my ears open for any more.
